The electronic circuit board (10) with surface mounted devices (12) are housed within a metal unit (14) and this is within a heat protective shield (16) that has apertures (22) to allow heat energy from the circuit to be carried away by conduction. The shield has an outer layer of a material that responds to external heating such that the apertures close to protect the circuit in the event of fire.

Bei einer Hochtemperaturschutz-Einrichtung für ein elektronisches Gerät (10) mit Verlustwärme erzeugenden Bauteilen (12) ist ein wärmeleitendes Gehäuse (14) für das elektronische Gerät (10) allseitig im Abstand von einem Hitzeschutzmantel (16) umgeben, der mit Durchbrüchen (22) zur wärmeabführenden Luftkonvektion versehen ist. Die Verlustwärme der Bauteile (12) ist zu dem Gerätegehäuse (14) ableitbar. Der Hitzeschutzmantel (16) ist mit einem Material beschichtet, welches bei Hitzeeinwirkung um ein Vielfaches der ursprünglichen Beschichtungsdicke zu einer wärmesolierenden Schicht (28) anschwillt und dabei die Durchbrüche (22) verschließt. <IMAGE>
