Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19606308C1] The invention relates to a supporting roll stand for continuous casting plants for metal, in particular steel. The invention is characterised in that the roll carriers are in the form of a rigid frame members (1, 2) constituted of welded plates, and both frame members (1, 2) have a projecting extension (19, 19', 20, 20') at each end. A plate-welded side member (15, 16) is fitted in each case between said extensions and is detachably connected via neck-down bolts to the two frame members (1, 2). The rigid and torsion-resistant support roll segment so formed has smooth and flat inner surfaces (21, 22), and the two frame members (1, 2) are provided with two carriers (12, 12', 30, 30') each extending at a distance from the width of the roll to form a T-shape in the casting direction and to which the corresponding pivot bearing housing (31) is detachably secured. The plate-welded assembly of the frame members (1, 2) and the side members (15, 16) are composed of the most similar individual segments according to a modular design, and the connecting members are to the greatest extent identical. A corrosion-resistant material is used for all parts of the supporting roll segment including the connecting members.
