Date Aug. 14, 1997A hand-held device for transferring a film from a carrier tape to a substrate includes an applicator with an end projecting from a housing around which the carrier tape coming from a supply roll is guided to a take-up spool and on which contact surfaces are provided for the "pull" and "push" operating modes of the device, the carrier tape being pressed against the substrate by the contact surfaces for the purpose of transferring the film. The applicator contains two application toes which are separated from one another by an empty space and each of which carries one of the two contact surfaces.
