Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9807883A1] The invention concerns a new method for removing biofilm from test surfaces. The method uses a component mixture, blend, which enhances the removal of biofilm. The sampler, e.g. a cotton swab, can first be wet in the mixture, which removes biofilm, then the biofilm can be sampled from the surface with the sampler. On the other hand, the component blend can also be sprayed directly on the studied surface, whereafter the biofilm is sampled with the sampler. The microorganisms are determined from the sampler with a method known per se, e.g. by cultivating. The component blend can also be used for pretreating surfaces prior to cleaning or desinfecting in order to remove biofilm layer formed by microbes. The composition of the component blend is chosen according to the application. The method allows for reliable and replicable determination of microorganisms formed on the investigated surfaces.
