[origin: WO9729232A1] In a selvedge-forming device (1) for a mechanical loom, thread guiding means (2, 3, 5) for guiding at least two selvedge threads (8, 11) are alternatively lifted and lowered to form a shed (12). These thread guiding means are driven by their own eccentric driving means (13). A motion for additionally displacing the selvedge threads (8) in the transverse direction is derived from a coupling rod (16) of the eccentric driving means to create crossing weave patterns.
