Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0879680A2] Knives (1) are clamped in longitudinal grooves (201) of the rotary cutter rotor body (2) e.g. for granulation of extruded plastic, by screws (3). An area (502) of a plate (5) is inserted into the groove so that one side (103) of the blade presses against it. The area of the plate (501) above the groove is bent over to bear against the surface (202) of the rotor body between adjacent knife grooves to protect it from abrasive wear by the material being cut. Preferably, the area of the sheet in the groove is corrugated and the area exposed to wear is joined to it by e.g. welding, being a wear-resistant material or being coated with ceramic or hard metal.
