[origin: WO9826161A2] The invention relates to a camshaft for an internal combustion engine, having a carrier wave (1) and radial cam areas (2), in which only the eccentric valve control surface (4) is included on a cam element (5) as opposed to the closing position stop (3) for a valve actuator (8) placed in a closed position. The cam element (5) jut out axially from the retaining members (6), which are rotationally fixed on the carrier wave (1) axially adjacent to the radial cam area (2). Further disclosed are valve actuating mechanisms with such camshafts.
