Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0881009A2] The apparatus for coiling a thin strip (2) onto the spool (1) incorporates endless chain units which are partially wrapped around the first coils of the strip. The chain units are guided on toothed, partially driven wheels, and are made up of hinged plates whose smooth surfaces face the strip. By means of rocker levers (4, 5) they can be moved between the winding and rest positions. The plate chain units (11) are provided with several bending rolls (13, 14) which are laterally distanced from one another and distributed over the strip width. The rolls are mounted on at least two parallel driven shafts in such a way that their surfaces effecting the coiling of the strip (2) onto the spool (1) fit into the gaps between the parallel plate chain units (11) to contact the strip.
