[origin: EP0881327A2] The press mantle structure for extraction of water from a moving web has blind drillings (1) at least in sections of the grooves (5) aligned along the direction (4) of web travel. The length of the grooves (5) is greater than the length of the press gap. Preferably the grooves (5) are over the whole press mantle length, in the direction (4) of web travel, as continuous grooves (5) or in spiral grooves in double or multiple spiral lines. The grooves (5) are parallel to each other. The groove (5) gaps (D) and widths are generally equal and, from edge to edge, are equal to or smaller than the diameter (d) of the blind drillings (1). The blind drillings (1) are distributed evenly over the press mantle surface (2), with equal gaps between them NOTGREATER 10%.
