Said process involves the application of a second coat with a dry thickness of 10 to 30 mu m of a first aqueous base coating agent containing polyurethane resin and the wet-on-wet application of a third coat with a thinner dry thickness of 7 to 15 mu m of a second aqueous base coating agent, the further application of a coat of clear lacquer without prior stoving, followed by stoving all together, where the first base coating agent has a higher polyurethane resin than the second.
