[origin: EP0882525A2] The workbench has a protective screen (7) mounted movable on the housing and held on same in the upper area of the work opening so that it can move between a hanging position at least partially covering the work opening and a position projecting into the housing where it is horizontal. The air stream produced by the blower is directed substantially horizontal through the work area (3). A lighting unit (8) with ultraviolet radiator is set in the housing above the work area. When the screen is horizontal in the housing it is underneath the lighting unit.
