[origin: DE19723279C1] The knife (10) has a housing (11) with a carrier (15) that accommodates the blade (14), where the carrier is movably fitted and is displaceable by operating a handle (42) against setback forces. The setback force is provided by a draw spring (24) and the blade carrier is movable from a starting position (A) of the knife blade where it is withdrawn and protected in the knife housing into a cutting position where the knife blade extends from the blade housing. The operating handle is formed by a separate operating part (27) which is movable relative to the blade carrier, which is loaded against the outward movement of the blade carrier with a separate setback force through a draw spring (38). The movement of the blade carrier and the operating part is translatory and in a linear motion whereas the movement of the operation part may also be translatory and curved.
