Abstract (en)
A closure (10) comprises a cap having a top wall (11) and a depending skirt (13), said skirt (13) having an internal screw thread (14) for engagement in use with a complementary external screw thread on a container to be closed by the closure (10), the closure (10) further comprising a tamper-evident ring (30) axially aligned with skirt (13). Formation (32) projects inwardly from ring (30) for snap-engagement beneath a retaining bead on the container to restrain ring (30) against axial movement when closure (10) is first unscrewed. Frangible bridges (20) integrally secure ring (30) to skirt (13) and provide tamper evidence when the closure is first unscrewed. Bridges (20) are radially inclined to the closure axis, being attached to skirt (13) at one of their ends and from there extending inwardly and downwardly to attachment to formation (32) at their other ends. Bridges (20) may be narrower in section adjacent skirt (13). Skirt (13) and ring (30) may have complementary formations (46, 36; See Figure 4) which interengage when closure (10) is screwed onto a container. <IMAGE>
