[origin: WO9731789A1] A device is provided for use in the field of press numbering machines for printing a mark, particularly an alphanumerical code, on a metal part without removing material therefrom, while meeting all traceability requirements. The device comprises serrated wheels (1) provided in a conventional manner with characters around the circumference thereof. The circumference of each wheel further comprises notches between adjacent characters. A suspended furcated device (6-10) programmably movable in two directions (vertically and/or sideways) enables quick, accurate and easily programmable positioning of the characters. The cost of the equipment is low.
