[origin: DE19653055C1] The seal checking process is applied to a pump casing which can be inserted in the engine casing. The exit (44) of the fuel injection pump, which comes out into an annular cavity isolated by sealing rings and is normally relieved via a line (28), is sealed. The sealing is effected using a plastically deformable substance which softens when heated. Due to its plasticity of deforms into a hermetic seal of the annular cavity against the interior of the fuel injection pump, so that test pressure can be applied to the annular space via the line.
