Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0884210A2] The end of the crankshaft is fitted with a first pulley (2) which drives a main belt (3) to transmit torque to the water pump pulley (6) and to the other accessories. The water pump pulley is connected to a coaxial secondary pulley (10) which drives the second belt which is looped over the blower pulley (11). For a compact mounting the bearing for the blower fan is mounted on an extension support on the end of the crankshaft. The blower drive is thus uncoupled from the accessories drive and the blower can be driven at a different speed to the accessories by choice of the pulley sizes. The accessories are relieved of the strain on the pulley drive.
