Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0884429A1] The panel is made from two layers (12, 14) of sheet metal, 0.2 to 0.4 mm thick, with a core (16) between them. The core is attached, e.g. by welding or adhesion, to the inner surface of one wall at the points (18) where it makes contact with it, while the core and the second wall are able to slide freely relative to one another. The panel's inner core can be made from expanded metal sheet or mesh, and in one variant of the design the panel can incorporate a layer of a sound insulating material, especially of fibre, between the core and the second wall. The insulating material is e.g. of ceramic fibres and is connected neither to the core or the adjacent wall.
