[origin: EP0884657A1] The actuator has housing fixed element (12), an actuatable element (62,63) movable wrt. It and a seal between them which isolates the interior (16) from the exterior (18). The lip seal has a base region (91) and a rotation symmetrical lip (82). The base region is fixed wrt. The movable element. The conical lip (82) is in contact with a cylindrical surface region (58) of the fixed element at its end remote from the base region (91). The lip detaches from the surface region if the internal pressure exceeds the ambient pressure to achieve pressure equalization. If the ambient pressure exceeds the internal pressure the lip is pressed against the surface region more strongly to achieve a seal.
