[origin: EP0884811A1] The method involves controlling the crimping process for connecting a contact with a conductor, whereby a crimping tool (12) of a crimping press is moved from a starting position (A) into a crimping position (C) and finally into an end position (E). For processing different contacts the starting and end positions of the crimping tool can be selected. The movement of the crimping tool between the starting and end positions starts as a rotation, whereby the starting and end positions are positionally separate.
