[origin: WO9732692A1] A protection and suction hood sealingly set on a hand grinding and polishing machine has a housing (1) with an edge (2) and an opening (3), a crown of bristles (13) on the edge of the housing, an attached pipe section (4) with an opening (5) for fastening the machine, and a suction pipe (12). The protection and suction hood secured to the machine covers a grinding wheel on the workpiece surface with the crown of bristles in contact with the grinding wheel. The attached pipe section (4) sealingly lies with its pipe section on the opening (3) of the housing (1) and can tilt to all sides. The attached pipe section (4) has at its end towards the workpiece a blocking ring (10) and at its end towards the machine a mounting plate (6) with the opening (5) of the attached pipe section (4). A clamping screw (8) for drawing together the mounting plate (6) and fixing the machine is inserted into a corresponding bore which extends transversely to the slot (7) in the plate (6). Several springs arranged between the mounting plate (6) and the housing (1) surround the pipe section (9) and press apart the mounting plate and the housing. This protection and suction hood allows grinding dust to be completely removed even when workpieces with an irregular, even angular surface are ground and sanded.
