[origin: DE19607117A1] The invention relates to a device for monitoring the open or closed state of a door of an object (1), such as an entertainment device or motor vehicle, with the aid of an electronic key (2) with a transmitter (13) which communicates within a defined range with a receiver (4) fitted to the object (1). The object (1) and/or electronic key (2) is provided with a signalling device. To allow acoustically detectable signals to be produced separately from the object (1) to tell the user after leaving the object (1) that the doors (7) are "open" or "closed", it is proposed that the electronic key (2) should also have a receiver (14) and the object (1) should also have a transmitter (3) in communication with the receiver (14); and that the signalling device should be an acoustic playback element (16) in the electronic key (2) for push-button controlled signalling of the "open" or "closed" state of the door (7).
