[origin: EP0885946A1] The device (1), for controlling the gas flow (2, 3, 4, 5) of a device comprising an upper part (6A) made up of a succession of transverse cells (7, 8), one (7) containing a material (M) for distilling and the others (8) for heating the cells (7) containing the material (M), and a lower part (1) situated under the containment and heating cells (7, 8): (a) is made up of a succession of transverse cells (12, 13) allowing the selective heating and forwarding of the fuel (2) and combustive (4) gases to each of the heating cells (8) and the evacuation of the combustion products (5) formed in the heating cell (8), as well as the storage of the heat charged to the combustion products (5); and (b) comprises some means for the selective control of the passage at least indirectly of the gaseous fluids (2, 3, 4, 5) towards the cells (12, 13) by operational period, in a manner such that during half the period of given operation the flow of fuel (2) and combustive (4) are preheated by a flow of combustion products that cross through during a half period of preceding operation. Each heating cell (8) is connected to four distinct cells (12, 13) of the lower part (1) in a manner such that for a given half period of operation, the combustion products (5) issuing from that heating cell (8) may be evacuated through two distinct cells (12, 13) of the lower part (1) whilst during the other half of the operating period the flow of fuel (2) and combustive (4) pass through each of these two distinct cells. Also claimed are: (i) the process for controlling gas flow using the above device; and (ii) an apparatus using the above device.
