Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0885974A1] The method concerns hot rolling of a broad strip out of a continuously cast thin slab (13) of a ferritic-pearlitic micro-alloyed steel, in a CSP (compact strip production) installation. Optimal mechanical properties of the strip are attained through a controlled structure development by rolling in the CSP installation with roll stands (4-10). The specified forming conditions at the first roll stand (4) are set so that recrystallisation of the cast structure takes place during and/or immediately after the first forming stage. There is a sufficient distance between the roll stands (4) and (6), so that recrystallisation is completed before the second forming stage.
