[origin: EP0886456A2] The method involves operating a sound reproduction arrangement with at least one speaker and with at least one amplifier which is connected over a preferably soluble cable connection and/or over a wireless connection to the speaker. The amplifier receives in a first step data describing sound-specific and/or electric parameters of the speaker through a query of the speaker. The amplifier is automatically configured in a second step under consideration of the data or parameters for an operation with the connected speaker. The configuration is preferably undertaken with regard to a transmission characteristic, especially a frequency and/or phase range, and/or with regard to a load capacity.
