[origin: DE19608645C1] The invention relates to a container, i.e. a standardised transport container, with a bottom surface (10) and a cover (18) removable from the bottom surface (10) and forming the two side surfaces (12), the two faces (14) and the roof surface (16). The cover (18) is constructed in one piece. Four uprights (20) extending at right angles to the bottom are provided in the corners of the container, and the upper ends of said uprights have a structure (22) fitted with cargo handling gear. The uprights (20) are rigidly connected to the bottom surface (10), and an engaging device is provided in the upper region of said uprights for locking the uprights (20) to the cover (18) and unlocking them therefrom. Alternatively, the uprights (20) are rigidly connected to the cover (18), and an engaging device in the lower region of the uprights (20) locks the uprights (20) to the bottom surface (10) and unlocks them therefrom.
