[origin: WO9736056A1] The surfacings for fast-traffic roads consist of a layer of poured asphalt with scattered chippings, where the poured asphalt has small regions of 1 to 10 mm spaced from 10 to 80 mm apart which are capable of absorbing compressed air. They are preferably included in the form of longitudinal grooves filled with single-grain chippings which are rolled into the asphalt while it is still hot.
