Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0887299A2] The bobbin has a core (10) with one stiff and smooth end flange (11) and a flexible and folding flange (12) at the other end. The material of the folding flange at the bobbin core (10) is stiffer at the core opening zone (120) where it is not folded than the outer folding zone (122), with a cross section reducing towards the circumference by at least 10% and preferably 25% or more from the centre (120), to give a zone which can be folded over. The gap (100) between the centre zone (120) of the flexible bobbin wall (12) and the stiff bobbin wall (11) gives the space for winding the material round the bobbin core (10). Also claimed is a bobbin winding action where a number of bobbins are assembled together on a shaft. When the open winding zone (100) has been wound, the folding zone (122) of the flexible side wall (12) is folded over round the wound filament, covering it as far as the stiff side wall (11). The wound filament between the walls (11,12) is firmly clamped in place, and the wound bobbins are separated.
