[origin: WO9733876A1] A novel process makes it possible to produce substituted aromatic thiocarboxylic acid amides of general formula (I) in which R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and Z have the meanings given in the description, by reacting substituted aromatic nitriles of formula (II) with thioacetic acid, possibly in the presence of a diluent and of a catalyst at temperatures between 0 and 150 DEG C.
