Abstract (en)
The grader has a feed conveyor (15); a sorting drum (1); a stacker (16,30); and a control system which measures the quality and/or dimensions of each item (17) e.g. plank on the conveyor and rotates and indexes the drum so that each slot (3) collects items within specific limits. When a slot contains enough items for one layer (6) of a stack (7) the slot is indexed to the stacker (16,30) and a radial ejector (20) pushes the planks onto the stacker. The drum is driven by an endless toothed band (10) which wraps around rollers (11) and part of the drum periphery. Several alternative arrangements are described some of which have more than one drum, conveyor and/or stacker.

Eine Vorrichtung zum Sortieren von Stückgut, insbesondere Schnittholzstücken (17), besitzt eine drehbare Sortiertrommel (1), in der mehrere Fächer (3) vorgesehen sind. Die Fächer (3) schließen mit durch die Achse (2) der Sortiertrommel (1) gehenden Radialebenen spitze Winkel ein und sind zum Umfang der Sortiertrommel (1) hin offen. In jedes der Fächer (3) können mehrere Stückgüter (17), die einem einheitlichen Sortierkriterium entsprechen, abgelegt werden. Sobald ein Fach (3) der Sortiertrommel (1) mit der gewünschten Menge von Stückgut (17) beschickt ist, wird diese aus dem Fach (3) entnommen und zur weiteren Bearbeitung transportiert. Da die Fächer (3) der Sortiertrommel (1) zum Umfang der Sortiertrommel (1) hin offen sind, können der Aufgabeförderer (15) und der Entnahmeförderer (16) neben dem Umfang der Sortiertrommel (1) angeordnet sein, so daß die Vorrichtung wenig Platz benötigt. <IMAGE>
