[origin: EP0889165A2] The suction roller assembly, for a papermaking machine, has at least one additional suction box (46) next to the first suction box (40). Preferably the web (16) is subjected to underpressure through recesses in the roller mantle (32), using blind drillings (38) in the mantle (32). The first suction box (40) extends into the angle zone (25) between the carrier belt and the roller mantle (32) at the entry side. The second suction box (46) is ahead of the first (40), in the direction (24) of web travel.
