[origin: EP0889186A2] The telescopic brake tube assembly, for the swing panel of a door or window, has a shaped body (16) at the opening at one end of the telescopic tube (2) where the piston rod (3) passes through. It extends into the interior of the tube (2), and is fixed in place. The tube (2) has an oval cross section. It has wedge-shaped braking surfaces, tapering towards the opening for the piston rod (3), to work with the brake body (20) fixed round the piston rod (3) which is under spring tension or is in a number of parts. At least one buffer (29) of an elastic material is in the tube (2) between the piston (12) and a counter unit (27), fixed to the tube (2). The buffer (29) is of a foam or rubber material.
