[origin: EP0889560A1] The system has a series of exchangeable modules (2a-2f) arranged in a line, and each unit handles different types of contacts. The modules can be removed and replaced. Contacts are selected and are handled by a gripper unit (11) that is part of a transfer unit (12). This moves on a guide track to transfer the contacts into a crimping or soldering machine station (8) that can handle the different types.
