Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9736747A1] A doctor blade (2) for use in a screen printing machine or for handling by an operator with a view to printing or transferring fluids or pastes, or other applications, including a head (3), a single or multiple solid or foraminous non-continuous resilient member (4), and a flexible lip (5). The flexibility of the doctor blade (2) at each point along its length is the result of a combination of the inherent flexibility of the lip (5) and that of the corresponding portion of the member (4). The arrangement of at least one such member (4) in at least two spaced layers of springs provides perfect control of the angle of the lip (5), regardless of the pressure exerted, the working speed and the evenness of the contact surfaces, in order to optimise deposition. Differential adjustment of the spacing between the spring elements enables selective adjustment of the flexibility of the doctor blade (2). An inflatable sleeve (19) in the doctor blade head spreads the vertical pressure. All of the components are electrically conductive so that static electricity is removed. The lip (5) is short and may consist of a permanent core (23) and a releasable clip-on cover (24).
