[origin: FR2746423A1] An ironing press including a working board (1) supported on a lower base (2) to which a rear arm (4) supporting a heated plate (3) is pivotably connected about a relative pivot shaft (6). The pivot shaft (6) is located behind and below the working board (1). Resilient return means and pressing means are housed under the working board (1) and apply respective relative torques to the heated plate (3) to move it into the open position or the working position by exerting axial thrust on a connecting arm (8) of which the front end (10) is slidable back and forth on the lower base (2) of the working board, while its back end (11) is pivotable about a transverse intermediate shaft (9) on the rear arm (4) of the heated plate (3). A large space is thus provided for housing the resilient return means and the pressing means, which may optionally be mechanised and automated.
