Abstract (en)
Method for preparation of fibre based fabric, with decorative design on at least one side, comprises coating surface with protective layer which can make fabric liquid penetration and stain resistant, the coating not penetrating substantially into the fibres and film on their surface; and fixing one or more colourants in the layer in order to obtain a decorative design. Also claimed is the printed fabric. Preferably the protective layer comprises a polymeric composition or a mixture of such compositions such as polyurethane based (co)polymers comprising polyethers, polyols or polyesters; acrylic based (co)polymers comprising acrylonitrile, acrylamide or acrylic ester derivatives; or polyvinyl based (co)polymers, e.g. acetal or butyral polyvinyl. The composition contains at least one non-stick agent, e.g. paraffin based products, silica or silicones; and at least one crosslinking agent, e.g. melamine resin, blocked isocyanate, or aziridine derivatives.
