Abstract (en)
A safe storage process for radioactive materials, especially ore residues containing uranium, radium and/or radon, involves applying a protective layer of coarse radiation screening material particles mixed with a fine grained component onto the radioactive material and optionally applying a sealing cover. Preferably, the protective layer is a 5-50 cm thick layer of 11-200 mm diameter particles and 0-11 mm diameter particles of barytes and/or lead ore. It may be a 5-30 mm thick layer of 0-100 mm diameter particles of barytes and/or lead ore and 0-2 mm diameter sealing material particles or asphalt.

In einem Verfahren zur Ablagerung und Sicherung von radioaktiven Stoffen, insbesondere von uran-, radium- und/oder radonhaltigen Erzrückständen, bringt man auf die radioaktiven Stoffe eine Schicht auf, die ein die Strahlung abschirmendes Material in grobkörnigerer Form vermischt mit einer feinkörnigeren Komponente enthält. Bei Einwirkung von Wasser bringt man darüber eine Abdichtungsschicht auf oder man integriert die Abdichtungs- und Strahlenschutzschicht in einer Schicht.
