Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9736793A1] The invention concerns a lid for sealing a sheet metal drinks can, a sealing element (102) being associated with this lid. Within its surface, the lid comprises a breakable region which is delimited by a notched line (103) and is surrounded by a cylindrical central wall (106) of a central enclosure (W). The sealing element comprises a corresponding cylindrical part (112) which engages in the central wall. Engagement and counter-engagement elements (115, 109), which co-operate in the manner of a bayonnet closure, are provided at the base of the cylindrical walls. Pressure elements and pressure surfaces (117, 116), which are designed and arranged such that when the sealing element is rotated relative to the lid, the notched line is made to break open (104) and the pouring aperture is released, are further provided at the base of the sealing element and at the base of the lid surface (111), these pressure elements and pressure surfaces co-operating with one another in the axial direction. An edge flange (139) of the sealing element is urged sealingly with appropriate pre-stress onto an annular surface (107) at the upper end of the central enclosure (W) of the lid by rotation.
