[origin: WO9738271A1] A self-cooling container including a combined valve cup and bottom assembly (10) for securely engaging the HEU (16) to the can bottom where user activation occurs. The valve (22) is crimped directly into the valve cup (34) on the combined valve cup and bottom assembly. The HEU is then attached to the combined valve cup and bottom assembly of the present invention for cooling of the beverage as will be explained further herein. Preferably, the combined valve cup and bottom assembly is integrally attached to the body or side wall of the container, thereby forming a two-piece assembly. Alternatively, the combined valve cup, valve and bottom assembly is attached by crimping to the body or side wall of the container, thereby forming a three-piece assembly.
