[origin: EP0893182A1] A hollow cylindrical component (1) is produced in a mould (10) with use of a body forming the inner surface of this component, while pressure is applied to the melt. A required amount of melt is poured into the mould. Then an appropriately shaped press plunger (20) is introduced into the melt in the mould in such a way that the melt is forced into an annular space formed by the mould and the plunger. The annular space formed by the mould and the plunger is provided with an additional relaxation volume (12) for the melt.
