Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0893267A1] The ribbon consists of a polyethylene film which supports sets of three primary coloured fields made from layers of pigmented resin. A print format (8) may be divided into two strips (9,9') or any other submultiple and the widths of the coloured fields are adjusted accordingly. If each strip requires printing it is submitted to a succession of printing passes (10-12) and (10'-12'). If not, then half the ribbon is saved. Where both strips require printing the coloured ribbon fields are of slightly different width so that an overlap is caused and there is smooth colour merging.
