[origin: EP0893750A1] The operating unit has a switch element which can be rotated in both directions, displaced axially and pivoted, for selecting one menu from a number of possible menus. A function from a number of menu functions and a function value for a selected menu function can be selected. The switch element may be pivoted in two perpendicular planes, with the pivot movement limited by a mechanical stop, the working position of which may be adjustable.
