[origin: EP0894445A1] The boot, made from a plastic shell (1) and an inner lining, has at least one zone (12) of reduced rigidity on the inside or outside of the shell in line with the metatarso-phalangeal joint. The shell is made from two layers of plastic, e.g. polyurethane, with different degrees of rigidity, with the supple zone(s) (12) formed by the less rigid layer of plastic only, the hardness of which is between 45 and 55 shD. In variants the supple zone can include textile or elastomer materials, or it can be made from a hole in the plastic shell aligned with a patch of a less rigid plastic material on the liner.
