Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0895221A2] A changeover valve (10) for wind instruments, modifying horn tonality between e.g. B and E sharp, comprises a valve body (20) containing a piston (30) and has inlet(s) (32, 36) and two outlets (34, 38). The air route is varied by the piston, between the inlet (32) and the first- (34) or second- (38) outlet opening. The piston is mounted for axial movement in the valve body. The first inlet and first outlet (32, 34) are connected. A straight and unconstricted passage is achieved through the changeover valve. Preferably the piston is made of plastic(s), e.g. polyphenylene sulphide and/or polyether ether ketone and/or polyester.
