[origin: DE19734301C1] The raw workpiece is moved by a remote control to two hydraulic grips (5,6( which first move the workpiece between two milling heads (15) to prepare the flats at each side. The workpiece is then moved between two boring heads and centred before boring reference bores about which the workpiece is subsequently rotated for turning. This provides for a rapid fitting to each of the following turning processes. The boring heads are retracted when the workpiece is milled. The centring control can be provided by bored holes or by turned stubs which form pivot supports for the turning ie. the workpiece is gripped between chucks or between spindles for turning.
