[origin: WO9732815A1] A mesoporous silica material can be formed by condensing a polysilicic acid from a solution in the presence of a surfactant such as long chain alkylamine, the mesoporous materials have large pore size which enables them to be used in filtration, as catalyst supports and in separations where conventional zeolites have too small a pore size.
