[origin: EP0897887A1] The method involves using an interaction between the control element (4) and the printed product, so that a region of the product is pressed between first parts of control levers (10,11) of the control element (4) assigned to it. The quantitative recordings of the interaction between the control element (4) and the product consists of a recording of the distance (D), varying with the thickness of the product. The distance is between the edges (30) of control levers (10,11). The desired value (MS) for each individual control element (4) from a measurement value (MK) detected by a calibration measurement with this control element.
