[origin: EP0898043A1] The crank handle for an awning or shutters on a building is made in two parts. The upper part (16) may slide longitudinally on a shaft (10) connected to the awning or shutter mechanism. It can cover an extension (12) hinged (18) to the end of the shaft. When the crank is to be used, the upper part of the handle is slid up the shaft to free the first hinge. It also frees a second hinge (20) connecting the end of the shaft extension to the lower part of the handle. The two hinges may then be bent through an angle of approximately 90 degrees, to make a crank which may be turned with one hand on the upper part of the handle and one hand on the lower part of the handle.
