The road vehicle (1) has two communication units, one of which can be fixed to the windscreen (11) and contains identification data. The other provides other vehicle condition data (12). Both units are interrogated by a remote station using a defined interrogation procedure. Communication is made via roadside transmitters (2).

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Austausch von Information zwischen einer Antwortstation eines mobilisierten Teilnehmers am Straßenverkehr, insbesondere einer Antwortstation eines Kraftfahrzeugs, und einer Abfragestation, bei welchem Verfahren zwischen der Abfragestation und der Antwortstation in einem räumlich eng begrenzten Bereich durch einen vorherbestimmten Abfragezyklus (41, 42, 43, 44; 41, 45, 46, 44) Information ausgetauscht wird, wobei in einer weiteren Betriebsart mittels aufeinanderfolgender Abfragezyklen beliebige Information (5, 6) durch transparente Datenübertragung austauschbar ist, sowie eine Antwortstation und eine Abfragestation dafür. <IMAGE>
