Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0899027A2] Additives, e.g. liquid detergents or solutes from pills, are injected at the suction, rather than the delivery, of the high-pressure pump. The mixing chamber (14) and water inlet socket (11), which forms part of it, is easily removable from the washer casing and hence connected to the pump suction (5) with a flexible pipe. The additive container (28), provided for solids, is screwed into the mixing chamber and is transparent so that the additive level is easily visible. The equipment is designed for an inlet pressure between 4 and 10 bar and a jet pressure between 80 and 100 bar. The arrangement of the mixing chamber (14) is designed to accommodate a solid additive (76). Liquid additives are fed through a line at (53). Low pressure water entering at (21) passes through a filter (19) into control valve (50). This valve permits water to enter, or bypass, a container (28). In the closed position the valve uncovers a vent to atmosphere. The outer housing (2) and particularly the mixing chamber, are plastic injection moldings.
