[origin: EP0899030A2] A cover plate (20) above top cooling water guide plate (9) forms a cooling water flow channel (21). Suction pipes (25) are connected to a suction unit (31) below the bottom cooling water guide plate (10) so that it extends into the corner zone (24) between the scraper (12) and the lower roll (2). The cooling water, after heat exchange with the rolls (1, 2), is removed by suction units (30, 31).
